BrainTuning Podcast

Sweet dreams, my angel!

Episode Summary

Due to the busy lifestyle most of us lead, sleep difficulties are becoming more and more frequent. Better sleep is connected with better life quality. Some of the habits that can lead us to better sleep are for example reading a book in physical form before going to bed, and of course meditation. We release the intensity of the day and let the mind and body rejuvenate. In this episode we use binaural beats at 432 Hz, which means we listen to a different frequency in each ear. We start with Alpha waves, go to Theta and finally to Delta waves to achieve deep sleep. If possible, we recommend listening to this meditation with headphones for best results. We envision traveling in a fluffy cloud until we meet our guardian angel. Sweet dreams! Find a quiet place, put away your phone or any other distraction and concentrate on yourself. If you are driving or doing something that needs your attention, please download it and listen to it when it’s time to relax. Enjoy! Written by Chryssa Kourenta, Joanna Bakratsa. Narrated by Joanna Bakratsa. Music by Chryssa Kourenta. Recorded at OpenStudio Post.

Episode Transcription

Welcome to the brain tuning podcast! We are Joanna and Chryssa and together we will present a weekly meditation in English and in Greek. The idea for this podcast was born through our personal research and years of experimentation with meditation. We have seen that the more you repeat the process, the mind learns to concentrate and develop awareness, and the more often we practice, the easier it is to stay focused on what we are doing in the present. Whether you are a beginner in meditation practices or advanced, you can feel the benefits. So, let’s begin…

This meditation is ideally practiced at night before going to bed. We advise you not to listen to this meditation while driving or doing anything that requires your full attention. Before going to sleep, it is important to avoid exposure to bright screens on mobile phones, computers or TVs. These habits affect the quality of our sleep, as they can disrupt the function of our nervous system and deregulate the metabolism of melatonin. It is scientifically proven that light, especially blue radiation reduces the production of melatonin. When practicing evening meditation on a daily basis, we train our body to create a routine that will allow it to relax and prepare for a restful and refreshing sleep. This way we recharge our batteries and help our cells regenerate properly. Let's begin!

Follow the rhythm of my voice and concentrate on your breathing. And now, let's take a few deep breaths and count backwards from 10 to 1. The deeper your breathing is, the more you relax and let go. Now, observe a full breathing cycle, starting with an inhalation, following with a short natural pause, then exhaling and finishing with another short pause and repeat this same procedure...

10, Feel your body sinking into the mattress of your bed

9, Your body is getting heavier

8, Feel how your neck is more relaxed and even longer

 7, Relax your jaw

6, Let your hands fall to the side of your shoulders

 5, Relax your joints

4, Focus on the area between your eyebrows, also known as the third eye

3, Release all the intensity of the day

 2, Now you are relaxed

1, Imagine a fluffy cloud covering your whole body.

Let go, trust the wisdom of your body, you are safe. You are in a beautiful cloud that will take you to the realm of dreams, a place where everything is possible!

Stay on this cloud for a while, notice its color and its size….. It is your cloud. Imagine this cloud rising higher and higher until it meets a sparkling golden light. You are slowly approaching a luminous form, and the closer you get, the easier it is to discern its features. Observe the shape of this form and see if there is something special about it ... Now you begin to distinguish a set of large shiny wings… .it is time to connect with your guardian angel, the one who watches over you and guides you even when you are asleep.

Imagine that your guardian angel spreads its wings and takes you in its arms, a place where you can let go completely and experience absolute relaxation. And while you are asleep, your body has all the time it needs to heal. Sweet dreams!
