BrainTuning Podcast

It’s time to feel grounded!

Episode Summary

We need grounding more often than we realize. Grounding happens with many techniques or ways, such as physical touch, massage, or gardening. But grounding is also something very simple: to be and to do. Another efficient way to feel grounded is with meditation. In this episode, we accomplish it by visualizing roots of light growing from our soles and traveling deep under the surface of the earth. Find a quiet place, put away your phone or any other distraction and concentrate on yourself. If you are driving or doing something that needs your attention, please download it and listen to it when it’s time to relax. Enjoy! Written and narrated by Chryssa Kourenta, Joanna Bakratsa. Music by Chryssa Kourenta. Recorded at OpenStudio Post.

Episode Transcription

Welcome to the braintuning podcast! We are Joanna and Chryssa and together we will present a weekly meditation in English and in Greek. The idea for this podcast was born through our personal research and years of experimentation with meditation. We have seen that the more you repeat the process, the mind learns to concentrate and develop awareness, and the more often we practice, the easier it is to stay focused on what we are doing in the present. Whether you are a beginner in meditation practices or advanced, you can feel the benefits. So, let’s begin…

[For this meditation we suggest the sitting position so that your feet can rest on the floor. If you are more advanced and feel just as comfortable you can try lying down with your legs bent. If at some point you do not exactly follow my guidance, do not worry! Feel free to follow your own pace and imagine what comes naturally to you.]

Find a comfortable place to sit or lie down. If you feel that your clothes are tight, loosen them up. It is time to train your mind to be in the present, in the here and now. If you choose to sit, straighten your back so that your spine is not pressed. In the lying position, stay on your back with your legs bent. Now is the time to relax.

Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths, inhaling and exhaling through your nose. Concentrate on your breathing. Observe the rhythm of your breathing and the more you concentrate on it, the more you relax. Each breath becomes deeper and deeper, even more relaxed, even more enjoyable.

Start scanning your body slowly, from your legs to the top of your head.

Feel the bottom of your feet, slowly continue to your calves, continue walking up to your hips. As you observe your body, notice if there are any tightnesses and relax.

Continue scanning your pelvic area, your abdomen, your back, spend some time in your heart area. Feel your shoulders, up to your toes. Allow them to become softer. Continue going to your neck, the back of your head and face. Relax your mouth, your jaw, your eyes and where there is tension allow it to release.

Let go, trust the wisdom of your body, you are safe. You are in the here and now.

Imagine a bright white ball of light on the top of your head. Shower yourself in this bright golden healing light starting from the top of your head. As it goes through your whole body and reaches your feet, the light changes into a silver color. Focus on your feet and imagine silver rays entering the earth. You inhale bright golden healing light that reaches each and every one of your cells. Imagine that with each exhalation your body clears any tension and stress. Anything you no longer need is transformed into something useful for the earth. This silver light travels to the bottom of your feet. Now that you have cleared whatever was weighing you, imagine roots starting from your soles, spreading below the surface of the earth. When your roots go deep into the earth, you are grounded and now you can bloom. Imagine that your hands become branches that are full of fruits. Observe how much more complete the picture of yourself has become. The deeper you connect with the earth, the higher you unite with the sky.

You can slowly now return to noticing your breath, while grounding this sensation and when you feel that you have completed your journey you can open your eyes.
